I do not agree that man is born and evolved to run. After a species has evolved it has to adjust to its natural environment. Initially, human brain was not big; it has evolved over a period of millions of years according to human’s own evolution. Once fully developed, naturally the head will control all functions of the human body. I do not see any “mismatch between the world we live ….and the Paleolithic bodies we have inherited”. “fallen arches, osteoporosis, cancer,m myopia, diabetes and back trouble” are not caused by any “mismatch”, they are the direct result of our eating and exercise habit. Not even humans can hold their heads still on a treadmill; not to say of a pig. The evolution and development of pig has been limited to the ground where it digs in to find its food or digging through the dirty drains. To dig in, it has to put pressure left and right through its hood. Humans were not born to run; they had to run to protect themselves from the wild predators in early period of existence. There are animals like deer, cheetah, dogs, fox, jackal, wolf, etc. that are born to run to sustain themselves. Humans do not rely on running for their sustenance. For running, our main thrust is on the feet, mainly paws, not heels. If you land on the heels after jump, you may damage you knee, hip and rattle your brain since heels do not have any shock absorbers. Shoes are only to protect the feet for fast and smooth running. Until 15,000 years ago humans had no luxury of eating different foods as we have today.Human body is so flexible and evolution friendly and you can feed it with any food to which it will get accustomed. For survival humans have eaten animals and used their skins for their body and feet. Today’s different diets are by our own choice, not necessary for our survival. I did not find this paper very impressive.
