   I may be thought an analytic dinosauer but I was taught that to analyze a dream you need and analyst, an analysand, a transference/counter-transference, the dream and free associations to that dream. Everything but the dream is missing in these wild analyses.
   Didn’t we learn from the foolish speculations about the mental functioning of candidates in the past? Why repeat the error? To satisfy our narcissistic wishes. To get the publicity?
   Do a little archeology and dig back into Freud’s short paper Wild Psychoanalysis. Such exciting speculations as proffered about Cheny’s dream only hurt our science and our profession. Some of the comments already reflect this.

   I agree with Ed Levin. When will colleagues learn not to involve themselves in this kind of unethical wild analysis?
