APsaA meeting in Chicago, love, morality, marijuana and . . . from Sasha Rolde on IP.net

Dear Colleagues,

It has been a scorching week in the eastern part of the USA but our website is not languishing like the rest of us.
First of all, the APsaA meetings in Chicago had a wonderful program, so unsurprisingly I begin my recommendations to you that I usually chose at the beginning, with:

1) Please read the news from the Annual APsaA meetings if you were not able to attend, and even if you were, as noone can be aware of the entire proceedings

2) Do you have an opinion on eating disorders and the ballet world? Please comment on the website about La Scala in the ART Category.

3) Perhaps this is the best time of year to read the review of the 5 books no less, on “why (and how) we love”. – It does make it pretty scientific and maybe less inviting.

5) Psychoanalytic/moral question: wherein lies the boundary between a political ally and a murderer? See post on Mark Zborowski, Stalin’s spy.

6) If in NYC, you can now analyze Dr. Ruth. (on stage).

7) Please read about the new breed of marijuana (without the high)

VI. The 2012 APsaA Annual Meeting News

The buzz at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel in Chicago last week was all about the 101st Annual Meeting which, according to feedback from several attendees, was one of the best June meetings in recent years. By all accounts, the combination of discussion groups, panels and workshops was particularly stimulating, while the more intimate nature of the meeting allowed for significantly more interaction among participants.

Saturday, 16 June 2012, dawned sunny and clear. There you have a sentence that Joyce might have written in the *namby-pamby marmalady jammy drawersy* Nausicaa chapter of Ulysses. Nevertheless, that*s what it was like on Delancey Place, Philadelphia, where the brotherly love overflowed and cascaded down the tall columns of the monumental, long-dead author.

The encounter took place last fall at the New World Stages theater complex, where Dr. Westheimer had just seen *Freud*s Last Session,* the word-of-mouth Off Broadway hit by Mark St. Germain. Afterward she found herself chatting with Martin Rayner, the actor who plays Freud.
