PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO THE ANNI BERGMAN PARENT-INFANT PROGRAM
HOME-VISITING PROJECT

Dear Friends and Colleagues,
As we approach the end of this calendar year, the Anni  Bergman Parent-Infant Program hopes you will consider making a contribution to our Home-Visiting Project.

The Home-Visiting Project began nearly four years ago with the help of a start-up grant from the Jennie Dugan Fund of the Contemporary Freudian Society. We provide weekly dyadic psychotherapy to parents and their infants and children under the age of three living in homeless shelters and other precarious housing. We also provide dyadic therapy to parents and young children who are in the process of potential reunification after separation due to parental neglect or abuse.

Very few existing New York City programs for infants, toddlers, and their parents offer dyadic psychotherapy, and even fewer are home-based and psychoanalytically informed. This model provides a view of the day-to-day interactions between parent and baby and also provides therapy to parents and babies who are unable to manage traveling to appointments. Our parent-infant psychotherapists are highly trained, experienced, and skilled, all having advanced mental health degrees in psychology, social work, psychoanalysis, or nursing, in addition to having completed the three-year post-degree Anni Bergman Parent-Infant Program. Each therapist is committed to working with the families for as long as is needed. Therapists travel to all New York City boroughs, which adds considerable time to each therapist’s visit.

The demand for our unique treatment services has grown. Our referrals primarily come from Nurse Family Partnership, Bronx Defenders, Strong Starts Court Initiative, and the Motherhood Center, all agencies working with parents and infants who urgently need help forming strong emotional bonds and satisfying patterns of interaction.

We value your interest and appreciate your contribution which will help us continue our work. You can learn more about our program and the Home-Visiting Project at our website: www.abpip.net.
