How to Psychoanalyze a Bunny Presenter: Sarah Boxer
“A charming, respectful examination of Freud’s work in comic form.” Kirkus Reviews
Join us for a whimsical evening with Sarah Boxer, the author of In the Floyd Archives, a cartoon novel based on Sigmund Freud’s case histories and its post-Freudian sequel, Mother May I? based lightly on the works and lives of Melanie Klein and D.W. Winnicott. See how the misadventures of Boxer’s neurotic clan of animals (including the bird analyst, Dr. Floyd and Melanin Klein, a little black sheep) form an allegory of object relations and a refreshing take on psychoanalytic ideas.
Sarah Boxer is the author of In the Floyd Archives, Mother May I? and the anthology Ultimate Blogs. She writes for The Atlantic, The New York Review of Books, The New York Times Book Review, The Comics Journal, Photograph, and Artforum. Her essays have appeared in many anthologies, including The Peanuts Papers, Rereading America, You Are Here: NYC, and Best American Comics Criticism.
