This film follows hardworking single father Carlos Galindo (Demian Bichir), an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, as he embarks on a physical and spiritual journey in order to reconnect with his teenage son and keep him from getting pulled into local gang life. From director Chris Weitz (“About a Boy”), “A Better Life” is a touching, poignant, multi-generational story that critics have called “compelling,” “intelligent,” and “heartfelt.” To see a trailer from the film, please click HERE.

CAROLA ORTERO BRACCO, Executive Director of NEIGHBORS LINK, will be joining us to enrich our discussion following the movie. The mission of Neighbors Link is to strengthen the community as a whole through the integration of immigrants. They offer programs in parent education, workforce development, ENL (English as a New Language), education and legal immigration services. Serving over 4,000 immigrants and providing cultural awareness to community members, the goal of Neighbors Link is to educate, empower, and employ.
