FROM THE CHAIR TO THE COUCH: 2019 – 2020
The New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute invites you to the second clinical discussion of the year in our Chair to Couch series: “Examining transference and counter-transference reactions during the transition from psychotherapy to psychoanalysis” An adult case presentation by NYPSI candidate, Dr. Jessica Wolman,  with a discussion by NYPSI Training Analyst, Dr. Gilda Sherwin Tuesday, February 4th 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Interested in learning more about psychoanalysis and how to deepen your clinic practice? Please join us for our second gathering and open house where you will have an opportunity to meet current candidates, talk about psychoanalytic training, and learn about our community and the current endeavors of our candidates and members.

A sample of what we will discuss includes: the challenges of balancing life and analytic training, the ins and outs of classes and supervision at NYPSI, our referral and treatment center, as well as current publications, research and community outreach by NYPSI members.

As usual, there will be food and drink and a lively discussion. Professionals and students with backgrounds in psychology, psychiatry, and social work are welcome to attend.

Training at NYPSI Offers:

– Rigorous license-qualifying full and part-time psychoanalytic training

– In-depth supervision and thought-provoking classes

– Evening classes to accommodate work schedules

– A one-year psychoanalytic prep program

– A one or two-year post-doctoral program that includes the opportunity to take the first year of the psychoanalytic training program classes

Below is a complete list of the three evenings in this year’s clinical series:
Tuesday, November 5th, 7pm – 9PM: “The exhaustion of feeling good. An examination of the defense against positive feelings.” This is an adult Case Presentation by candidate Dr. Debra Japko, with a discussion by NYPSI Training Analyst Dr. Anna Balas.
Tuesday, February 4th, 7pm – 9pm: “Examining transference and counter-transference during the transition from the Chair to the Couch.” An adult Case Presentation by candidate Dr. Jessica Wolman, with a discussion by Dr. Gilda Sherwin.
Late March, 2020, 7pm – 9PM: Informal gathering and Q&A with current NYPSI candidates.
