Teaching Method: Clinical presentation and discussion

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn to identify some of the ways in which listening can enhance the actual interaction in the clinical encounter.
  1. Participants will learn the function and place of listening within psychic structure and conflict, object relations, fantasy, symbolization, self/ego constitution, among other psychoanalytic notions.
  1. Participants will learn to listen for unconscious material and to recognize the potential dyadic defenses against knowing.
  1. Participants will begin to learn how to listento their own countertransference  reactions as an important tool within the analytic situation. Learning Objectives:
