WORKSHOP ON CHILD ANALYSIS:The Child, Language, and the Psychoanalyst by Catherine Vanier Saturday, May 9, 2020 10:30 am – 2:00 pm
If play, as Winnicott says, is “therapeutic in itself,” what use is an analyst’s presence? Why not simply tell parents having trouble with their children to let them play or draw? In children’s analysis, the child’s and the analyst’s words have a specific role within the transference and address children’s creation in a particular manner.. We will explore this transference, the analyst’s interventions in the treatment, and the part played by the phantasm in the family constellation.
