Après-Coup Psychoanalytic Association presents

STUDY GROUP: Reading with W..G. Sebald: Fiction as Testimony
Salvatore F. Guido

Paying particular attention to modes of literary and textual rumination that are embedded in Sebald’s prose fiction and essays, this study group proposes to read with him (not to psychoanalyze him), and to pursue some of the effects generated by this unique form of fiction as testimony, a body of work that is as attuned to cultural pathology as it is sensitive to individual trauma. His writing, and much of the literary scholarship that intersects with it, resonate with concerns that are fundamental to psychoanalysis.
