Discussing her novel, The Parrot and the Doctor, inspired by her analysis with Lacan, psychoanalyst Betty Milan will examine the social link proper to the psychoanalytic discourse.

STAGED READING

Edoardo Ballerini and Jane Malmo will present a staged reading of Betty Milan’s play Good-bye, Doctor to be followed by a discussion. Stage direction by Richard Ledes.

Betty Milan is a Brazilian psychoanalyst and the author of novels, crônicas, essays, and plays. Before becoming a writer she received a medical degree in São Paulo and studied psychoanalysis in Paris with Jacques Lacan..

Edoardo Ballerini is an award-winning actor and narrator of audiobooks. He produced and stars in the recently released film Seven Splinters in Time.

Richard Ledes is a director, writer and producer. He recently completed No Human Is Illegal, a documentary about refugees detained on the Greek island of Lesvos.

Jane Malmo, after working some 16 years as an appellate criminal lawyer and then as a law professor, refound her theatrical calling and is now a full-time faculty Drama Department at the Tisch School of the Arts, NYU.
